OUR HISTORY

2009

Pastor Gary Satterly felt God calling him to plant a church in Scottsburg, Indiana. They began meeting on Thursday nights in a small banquet hall called LJ's on the north side of Scottsburg with 5 people and Elevation Church was born. The congregation began to grow, and services moved to Sunday mornings in December of that year.

2010

Elders were added as the congregation continued to grow to about 45 people. The first annual Fall Festival was held for the community in October where we served and ministered to approximately 500 people.

2011

Elevation was starting to grow quickly, and we purchased the old Travel Authority building in October. This is our current location at 660 South Boatman Road in Scottsburg.  We had our second annual Fall Festival on the property the day before we had our first Sunday service there.

2012

Pastor Aaron Scudder and Pastor David Richie joined the leadership team. The church continued to grow, and Student and Children's ministries were expanded. We had to build a small building to use for our Children's Church because of the growth. We also launched our first VBS that Summer.

2013

Elevation purchased the property directly to the South of the building for expansion. Record numbers of children came out to the VBS and Fall Festival outreaches. Many elders, directors, teachers, and helpers were added to our ministry and leadership teams.

2014

We welcomed our new worship pastors, Pastor Eric and Shala Rodgers, to our leadership team!  We started drawing up plans to build a new Student Center because of the continued growth in our Children's department.

2015

Was a big year for Elevation. We went to two services on Sunday mornings, at 9:00am and 11:00am.  We broke ground on our new Student Center. We moved our Easter service offsite to the Austin High School auditorium to accommodate our rapid growth with a record attendance of 600.

2016

Was another great year we Praise God for! We finished our state-of-the-art Student Center and purchased more property west of church to expand and build a new auditorium.  Shortly after the completion of the new Student Center, we remodeled our current facility by adding new administrative offices and a conference room.  Our annual Fall Festival had a record turnout where we ministered to and served over 3000 people.

2017

We celebrated a record-breaking crowd for Easter, remodeled our kitchen facilities and purchased a new digital sign. We added Denny Bontrager to our elder board. We said goodbye to our Worship Pastors, Eric and Shala Rogers and we welcomed our new Worship Pastors, David and Denise Chaney. We also said goodbye to Youth Pastors Zack and Lauren Fuehring and welcomed Youth Pastors Greg and Amanda Shuler.

2018

We got off to a great start in 2018. We purchased another 2.6 acres of land to the north of the church. In the near future this property will be used for a new 1000 seat sanctuary - to God be the Glory! We also purchased a 17 passenger shuttle van for traveling to off-campus events. The digital sign was installed on our new property. Over 900 people came to ECM for another record-breaking Easter weekend! We began streaming our worship services live on Facebook. Our Youth Ministry began growing by leaps and bounds under the direction of Pastor Greg Shuler. We expanded our safety and security teams and added additional state of the art security equipment. We invested in our families by hosting an amazing weekend marriage conference. We invested in our community and local church by hosting a regional security seminar. We welcomed Pat and Tina Coyle to the pastoral team. They launched Purpose Driven - a dynamic young Adult Ministry that targets the ministry needs of 18 - 32 year olds. We invested in a new, larger storage shed and converted our current storage space into a state of the art classroom. God is blessing Elevation Church!

2019

Here we grow again. We have already experienced record growth and giving throughout 2019. February solidly broke our all time giving record for a single month. We invested in the marriages of our church by hosting another incredible XO Marriage Conference. We’ve made a significant improvement in our sound system by investing in and installing new main speakers and other needed equipment. Our Easter services were packed out. We reached out to the kids of Scott County with our biggest and best VBS yet. We launched Back To Joy Grief Recovery classes. We also launched our first round of Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. We had a spectacular 10 year reunion celebration blowout! This year’s Fall Festival had more that 5000 attendees! 2019 has been another incredible year full of God’s blessings! We are so grateful!

2020

Wow, no one saw that coming! No one except the Lord that is. He was so faithful to our church family as we navigated the uncharted waters of the 2020 pandemic together. Our Technical Arts department had already been investing heavily into improving our online presence with upgraded cameras as well as new video streaming, processing and switching equipment. With the vision and leadership of Scott Richie and the full support of our Pastor and Elders, we converted unused space in our Student Center into a state-of-the-art video ministry suite. This vision and investment helped ECM to not miss a beat with the ministry of Worship and the Word in our Sunday worship services - even when everyone was forced to lockdown for several months. We leveraged the lockdown time to install much needed carpet throughout the sanctuary and lobby of the church. One of the biggest blessings of 2020 was the fact that God blessed ECM so abundantly, we were able to invest just over $75,000 into missions, both local and international. 2020 was not an easy road for anyone, but God showed His faithfulness to us time and time and time again!

2021

The Lord’s blessings continue to astound us. As daily life slowly began returning to normal the Lord allowed ECM to continue progressing forward. In January we set an aggressive goal of paying off the mortgage by the end of the year, but God had bigger and better plans. On Sunday, June 6th we celebrated the retirement of our mortgage with a note burning ceremony - nearly seven months ahead of our one year goal! From that week forward we have been 100% debt free! Our ministries and major events began ramping back up. We had our best attended and smoothest running Fall Festival to date! We increased our ongoing investments in missions. This includes supporting more missionaries as well as continued investments in local missions with increased giving to community ministries.

2022

The faithfulness of God continues to keep us and drive us toward the future. We were able to have our first full-blown VBS since the summer of 2019. It was so great to see the campus full of kids and volunteers again. We made significant improvements to our kitchen with the addition of a commercial sink and two commercial ovens to better facilitate and support ministry events. We are currently in negotiations to buy the office building that is next to the church. As of this writing, it appears this should be accomplished by the end of 2022 or early 2023 at the latest. This will provide much needed offices, additional classroom space, a much better location for our media ministry control room and additional storage. We continue to bless and invest in our community and world missions in greater ways. God Is Good!
